Donald Edward Bruce Sr., known to many throughout the Kingston Springs area as "Fisheye," "Smoky" or "Big D," died May 26 at the age of 69.

Donald Edward Bruce Sr., known to many throughout the Kingston Springs area as "Fisheye," "Smoky" or "Big D," died May 26 at the age of 69.

Bruce was widely known in the community through his work and personal relationships, including his role as CEO of Bruce Trucking. Following news of his passing, friends and family members shared memories describing him as someone who was always laughing, enjoyed telling stories and had a gift for striking up conversations with nearly anyone he met.

Born July 27, 1956, Bruce was remembered by loved ones for his strong personality, loyalty to family and friends, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. His family said he cherished spending time with loved ones and created memories that will be carried forward for generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie H. Bruce and Mary R. Bruce.

Bruce is survived by his brothers, Wayne Bruce and Steven Bruce; his children, Donald E. Bruce Jr. (Leslie), Temissa D. Bruce (Jarrod), Jonathan "Chad" Bruce (Leiah) and Johnnie "Wade" Bruce; 12 grandchildren, Karlye, Malachi, Brystol, Cole, Taegan, Dalton, Weston, Abbie, Briar, Bryce, Mackenzi and Kennedi; and one great-grandchild, Camden.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. June 1 and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 2 at Bellevue Church of Christ, 7401 Highway 70 S. in Nashville. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. June 2, followed by burial at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden.
