Voters in Cheatham County and eastern Dickson County will have an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking to represent Tennessee House District 78 during a June 22 candidate forum hosted by the Kingston Springs Gazette and the Dickson County Times.

The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 22 at the Bibb White Bluff Civic Center in White Bluff. All four candidates seeking the open District 78 seat — John Louallen, R-Cheatham, Perry Keenan, R-Cheatham, Dr. Aniya Farmer, D-Cheatham, and Hillary Capes-Gwinn, D-Dickson — are expected to attend.

District 78 includes all of Cheatham County and portions of eastern Dickson County, including White Bluff and Burns. The seat is currently held by Mary Littleton, who announced last year she would not seek re-election after serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives since 2013.

Organizers said the forum will focus on issues important to local residents ahead of the Aug. 6 Republican primary election. Early voting begins July 17.

Residents throughout the district are invited to submit questions for the candidates through June 15 using an online form released by the Gazette and The Dickson County Times.

“This is an opportunity for voters across District 78 to hear directly from the candidates and better understand where they stand on issues impacting Cheatham and Dickson counties,” organizers said in the event announcement.

The forum is expected to cover topics including growth, infrastructure, education and state-level priorities affecting Middle Tennessee communities.
