Kingston Springs announces Storybook Trail, proclaims September Imagination Library Month

Kingston Springs will soon have a new way to promote childhood literacy with a Storybook Trail planned for Burns Park.

The town announced at its Sept. 17 meeting that the Kiwanis Club of Cheatham County, in partnership with the town, was awarded a grant from the Tennessee Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation to install the trail.

The Storybook Trail will feature a series of panels placed along a park trail, allowing children and families to read a story from beginning to end while participating in activities connected to the book. Installation is expected within the next one to two months, and no later than the end of the year.

Stories will be rotated quarterly, with Kingston Springs partnering with Ashland City to exchange stories. Ashland City already has a Storybook Trail.

The town also approved a proclamation declaring September as Imagination Library Month in Kingston Springs, honoring Dolly Parton’s work to promote childhood literacy through the Imagination Library.

Town officials said the designation will provide another opportunity to partner with nearby municipalities and recognize the program each September.
