A new community-focused group is taking root in Pegram with a mission of bringing neighbors together through service, beautification and local events. Pegram in Bloom will make its public debut next month with a free community gathering featuring live music, local artisans, food and activities for all ages.

The group’s first event, “Pick’nic in the Park,” is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Pegram’s ball park. Organizers hope the event will give residents a chance to spend time together, meet their neighbors and celebrate the people and creativity that make up the community.

“We want people to come, spend time, get to know their neighbors,” organizer Cody Howard said.

The music-centered event will feature three musical acts, along with local artists and artisans with ties to South Cheatham County. Organizers are planning children’s arts and activities, games for the whole community and a kickball game. Attendees are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets and their own yard games.

Food options will include Wildflower Pizza, Tom’s Coffee and other food trucks, with additional vendors being confirmed. A s’mores station sponsored by the Gazette is also planned, and the event will include a winter clothing drive benefiting The ARK.

Organizers emphasize that the gathering is intended to be an opportunity for residents to linger, share food and stories, and build relationships rather than simply browse vendors and leave. Admission is free, and vendors are not being charged to participate.

Pegram in Bloom is being organized by Howard, his wife Jordan, as well as residents Jenny Hannah and Tabitha Walton.

The group plans to pursue additional community projects, including a local arts and crafts festival next spring and development of the Pegram Community Garden, which organizers say will benefit The ARK. The group is also seeking volunteers and community sponsors for future efforts.

More information about “Pick’nic in the Park” and Pegram in Bloom is expected to be shared through the group’s social media channels as the event approaches next month.
