Pegram’s 47th annual Independence Day Celebration

The Town of Pegram will hold its 47th annual Independence Day Celebration this Tuesday, on the 4th of July holiday.
The majority of the event will take place in or around Pegram Park, so get there early for a fun-filled day mingling with the community and supporting local businesses – and don’t forget your lawn chairs and water bottles!
“This year Pegram will host its 47th annual Independence Day Celebration. The strong sense of community felt at the event is truly what makes South Cheatham a special place,” Pegram Mayor John Louallen said in a statement. “We are super excited to offer free carnival rides, bounce houses and face painting to all children thanks to the generosity of our event sponsors.”

The day will kick off at 7 a.m. with the annual pancake breakfast. This year, the event will be held at Pegram United Methodist Church. For $8 you can get a full stack of pancakes with two sausage patties and a drink. The short stack is $5.
The parade registration will be held at Pegram park from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., and be led by Grand Marshals, the 2022 South Cheatham AllStars 50/70 Baseball State Champions.
The parade will begin at Pegram Park, head to Thompson Road, then Highway 70, then Weigelia, then Juniper, then Dogwood Lane, then back to Highway 70, and Thompson Road, and ending at Pegram Park.
Please note that Thompson Road and Highway 70 will be closed along the parade route from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the parade. Additionally, the only vehicles that will be allowed in the park until after the parade are parade entries and vendors.
Festivities will commence at noon when the winners of the parade are announced. Trophies will be given for the Best Float, Best Motor Vehicle, Best Antique, Best Team Float, Most Unusual, and Mayor’s Choice.
Many different activities will be available for all ages – from face painting to bounce houses to festival rides and photo booths. Senior bingo and the cornhole tournament will begin at 1 p.m.
You don’t want to miss the holiday favorite – beauty pageants – which will begin at 2 p.m. on the Pavilion Stage and hosted by Pegram favorite, Wendy Cox.
Girls and boys zero to six months, as well as girls and boys seven to 12 months will begin at 2 p.m.
At 2:30 pm, girls and boys aged 13 to 24 months will take the stage, next girls and boys aged 25 to 25 months.
Wee Miss (3-5 years), Tiny Miss (6-8 years), and Little Miss (9-12 years) will compete at 3 p.m.
There will also be a kids tug of war contest and a hula hoop contest on the main stage.
Throughout the day, you can be entertained by grabbing a snack from your favorite food truck and setting up in a lawn chair on the main field. Live music entertainment will be performed throughout the 4th of July holiday.
Additionally, the ballpark will host seven local food trucks that will operate from noon until 9:30 p.m., serving up delicious sandwiches or ice cold desserts: Haute Wheels, This Turkey Here, Lady Dawgs, Texas Twister, Kona Ice, Puff Daddy’s and Sweet T’s.
The fun-filled day will end with Pegram’s famous firework show at 9:30 p.m. Residents all across Tennessee flock to Pegram for this event that boasts a sense of community and small town fun. This will be an event you don’t want to miss.
