Downtown Kingston Springs is usually quiet on a Sunday afternoon, but not on Super Bowl Sunday. This year marked the 22nd annual community Super Bowl gathering at The Fillin' Station, where neighbors came together to socialize, share their predictions and enjoy the game.
Patrick Weickenand, owner of The Fillin' Station, has opened his doors for this tradition since 2003, believing the Super Bowl is a perfect reason for the community to connect and celebrate. The bar served drinks, while attendees brought their favorite snacks to share as they cheered for their teams. While many fans were rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles, some backed the Kansas City Chiefs, and an even larger crowd simply came to enjoy the atmosphere.

A touching moment unfolded as a few patrons stood in respect during the National Anthem, displayed on three big-screen TVs. The opening moments carried a sense of solemnity as viewers reflected on the tribute to the New Orleans tragedy and discussed recent national events. This year's Super Bowl also made history, with President Donald Trump becoming the first sitting president to attend the event.
Excitement filled the air as the Eagles took early control of the field, sparking cheers and playful banter among fans. Laughter broke out during the Little Caesars commercial, while a hush fell over the crowd for the "No Reason to Hate”commercial featuring Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady. As for the halftime show, most in attendance joked that they had aged out of caring too much.
In the end, this wasn't just about football; it was about friendly competition, community spirit and shared moments of joy. Kingston Springs may not be the Superdome, but on this Sunday, it was a place filled with the energy of connection and celebration. Congratulations to the Eagles!
