Former Pegram Mayor John Louallen is vying for state incumbent Rep. Mary Littleton’s seat during the 2026 election cycle.

Littleton has represented District 78 – encompassing both Cheatham and Dickson counties – since she was first elected to the Tennessee House in 2012.

Louallen served as the mayor of Pegram for one term beginning in 2020. He did not seek reelection in 2024.

“On April 4, 2025, I proudly announced my candidacy for the Tennessee House of Representatives, District 78,” Louallen wrote in a press release shared with the Gazette. “I’m a passionate conservative advocate for the people of this community, committed to bringing a fresh, innovative voice to the state legislature to represent the needs and values of our district.”

“I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities our community faces. We need

strong, compassionate leadership that listens to the concerns of working families, small

business owners, and the next generation of Tennesseans,” he continued. “I’m running to ensure that our voices are heard in Nashville and that our district gets the attention and resources it deserves.”

“My campaign will be a grassroots effort focused on Christian values, conservatism and family values,” Louallen said. “I am excited to hit the campaign trail over the next several months and meet with as many of you as possible. Your voices, your concerns, and your struggles will guide my actions in the State House.”

Apart from serving as Pegram mayor for four years, Louallen also served eight years on the Cheatham County School Board. Now a realtor, his past work experience includes nearly a decade serving as a deputy sheriff in Warren County, Ohio.
