The Harpeth High School (HHS) girls soccer team had another remarkable performance on Tuesday, Sept. 17, shutting out district competitor McEwen 5-0.

The team also celebrated its six seniors ahead of the game: Lily Lessard; Kira Burns; Mary McWilliams; Kensley Gipson; Ava Lovelace and Mylea Hall.

The Lady Indians’ match against the McEwen Warriors was their penultimate district game this season.

Senior Captain McWilliams came in with one goal; senior Captain Lessard had two goals; and junior Brooke Hamilton also had two goals. Junior goalkeeper Cheyenne Hall had the shut out.

The absence of the seniors will be felt heavily next year, with all three team captains – McWilliams, Lessard and Lovelace – serving as the top scorers for the Lady Indians.

After their win against McEwen, the girls remained undefeated in the district. However, on Thursday, Sept. 19, they had their first district loss to county rival Cheatham.

The Cubs beat the Lady Indians for first place in the district playoffs last year.

The Lady Indians will compete in four more non-district games – one final one at home on Thursday, Sept. 26 – before district playoffs begin the second week of October.
