The Cheatham County School Board unanimously voted during its December meeting to promote Assistant Director of Schools Stacy Brinkley to serve as the next director of schools.
Current Cheatham County Director of Schools, Cathy Beck, announced earlier this school year that she is retiring on June 30, 2025, after eight years of service.
“I have had the privilege of working with Stacy Brinkley over the past eight years. She is a highly capable leader with an exceptional understanding of academics, the importance of organizational culture, and the intricate components that comprise a school district,” Beck told the Kingston Springs Gazette. “Stacy is widely respected and trusted by colleagues and stakeholders alike. I am confident that she will excel as an outstanding Director of Schools for Cheatham County.”
Brinkley has served as the assistant director of schools since 2017. She is a product of the Cheatham County School District, graduating from Cheatham County Central High School. She has worked in the county for 25 years.
She spent seven years teaching at West Cheatham Elementary School and four years teaching at Sycamore Middle School. She then served as the curriculum coach at West Cheatham Elementary School before becoming the principal at Kingston Springs Elementary School.
Brinkley also served as the K-12 supervisor for five years as well as serving as the interim director of schools during the 2016-2017 school year while the district searched for a new director of schools before Beck was hired.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected as the incoming Director of Schools. I thank the School Board for giving me the opportunity to lead this incredible district,” Brinkley said in a statement to the Gazette. “As a proud graduate of this district, I am dedicated to doing everything I can to keep us moving in the right direction as Dr. Beck has laid the groundwork for student success.”
She continued, “For the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some very talented and dedicated educators in our district. I look forward to continuing working with them to ensure that we are providing our students with the tools that they need to be successful in their college and career endeavors.”
The School Board and Brinkley will now work together on details of her contract. The School Board will have to vote again at a future meeting to approve the contract, and this will pave the way for Brinkley to begin her new role on July 1.
