Unveiling the magic of the Pegram Independence Day parade

American pride and patriotism were on full display during Pegram’s 48th Annual Independence Day Celebration on July 4. Beginning with a pancake breakfast at the Pegram United Methodist Church and culminating with a fireworks display in the evening, the all-day celebration featured a packed schedule with more than a dozen events, with the midmorning parade one of the highlights.

Open to all comers, the Pegram Independence Day Parade attracted more than one-hundred registered entries comprised of hundreds of people riding, driving, peddling, and marching over the two-mile parade route. Vehicles ranged from festooned floats and vintage vehicles to clown cars and commercial work trucks, with participants tossing candy and frozen treats to the hundreds of onlookers along the parade route that commenced at Pegram Park on Thompson Road, and included a stretch of Highway 70 before looping back via Juniper Drive and Dogwood Lane.
