A huge congrats are in order for the Harpeth Middle School (HMS) boys soccer team, who had an undefeated season, placed first in the district and second in the entire region. All Conference MVP was awarded to Brendan Hunt. Congrats to Harpeth High School (HHS) senior Scarlet Pajer on signing a Division I athletic and academic scholarship to attend Ball State University in Indiana for gymnastics. Pajer won the all-around state championship the last four years and her team has won the state championship the last five years. She was also named Gymnast of the Year by USA Gymnastics Tennessee. Best of luck at Ball State! Kingston Springs Police Department welcomed its third female public safety officer in April. Kathy Smith has 12 years of law enforcement experience. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Officer Smith loves animals, especially her dogs and her horse, which she recently adopted after its owner passed away. You will not want to miss Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School's (PEFAMS) production of The Lion King on Friday, May 9 at 6 p.m. The production was made possible by a grant awarded to the school by the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). The 45-minute play, which will feature 26 elementary-aged students, is free for the community to attend. PEFAMS partnered with Cheatham County Animal Control to raise nearly $1,000 in funds for the shelter. Citizens gave the shelter $25 and a picture of their beloved pet, and Pegram students then drew portraits of the animals. Additionally, the school collected about 2,000 cans of cat food for the shelter. Congratulations and good luck to HMS student Cooper Gensert who placed 4th in the 100 meter race at the Regional Track Tournament and is now headed to State! Congratulations to the HHS baseball team, who is not only undefeated in the district tournament, but hasn't let their opponents get a single run. Major congrats to senior Aaron Higgs, who scored a new career-high of four runs in the Indians' 13-0 win against Cheatham. Small business alert! The Fillin' Station on Main Street in downtown Kingston Springs has new menus. Go check them out! The Cheatham County School District currently has nearly 20 open positions available in South Cheatham, including a varsity baseball coach at HHS, a principal position at Kingston Springs Elementary School and a 2nd grade teacher at PEFAMS. You can view and apply to all open positions here. The Kingston Springs Gazette is excited to present our second installment of "Straight from the Source" featuring Leslie Liles Allen and Jennifer Harris Scoble. The evening of storytelling will take place at SKYKING Pizza on Sunday, May 18 at 7 p.m. RSVP here.
