South Cheatham schools welcome new educators as students return to class

As students return to classrooms across the South Cheatham cluster, several schools are welcoming new teachers and staff members while continuing to fill a handful of open positions ahead of the new school year.

Kingston Springs Elementary School enters the year without any new classroom teachers but has added two new instructional assistants, Stacey Treangen and Sydney Corbin. The school is also hiring for an additional general assistant position as well as a special education assistant.

Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School has welcomed six new staff members:

• Olivia Cox, second grade teacher
• Allyson Wallace, special education interventionist
• Ashley Aldrich, fourth grade math teacher
• Lesley van der Merwe, RTI interventionist
• Anna Greer, first grade assistant
• Michele Sedgwick, special education assistant

Harpeth Middle School has added five teachers across multiple grade levels. New fifth grade teachers are Emma McCullough and Chelsi Meredith. The sixth grade team welcomes Matthew Allison and Kirsten Elkins, while Mike Hayes joins the seventh grade team.

At Harpeth High School, several new educators will join the special education department, including assistants Ian Faulkner and Tim Hunt, interventionist Taylor Newton, and interventionist assistant Amanda Howell. The school also welcomes Robert Posch, who will teach social studies, economics, government and personal finance.

Harpeth High School continues to recruit for two teaching positions: a Criminal Justice Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructor and an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher.

With new faces joining classrooms throughout the cluster, school leaders say they are looking forward to welcoming students back for another successful year.
