Gazette’s September book club: Read ‘Verity’ before it hits the big screen

September’s book club pick is “Verity” by Colleen Hoover — and there’s no better time to read it than now.

The Kingston Springs Gazette’s Book Club will meet Monday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at SKYKING Pizza to discuss Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller, just days before its highly anticipated movie adaptation hits theaters.

The film, starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, is scheduled to open in theaters Oct. 2.

In “Verity,” struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh is hired to finish the book series of bestselling author Verity Crawford after an accident leaves Verity unable to write. Lowen moves into the Crawford family home, where she discovers a disturbing manuscript that forces her to question what — and whom — she can believe.

The book has plenty to discuss, from its unreliable characters and increasingly dark revelations to the ending that has kept readers debating “Verity” long after they turned the final page.
