Democrat Darden Copeland, a candidate in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District special race, will host a town hall at SkyKing Pizza on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The event is part of his “Fed Up” tour, where Copeland says he is meeting Tennesseans “where they are.” Free food and beverages will be provided.

The contest to replace retiring Republican Rep. Mark Green has drawn a crowded field. Eleven Republicans are competing in the Oct. 7 GOP primary, including state Reps. Jody Barrett of Dickson and Gino Bulso of Brentwood.

Democrats have four contenders, all Nashville-based state representatives: Copeland, Aftyn Behn, Vincent Dixie and Bo Mitchell. Four independents have also qualified for the Dec. 2 general election ballot.

Early voting for the primary is under way and runs through Oct. 2. South Cheatham County voters can cast their early ballots at the Parks and Recreation Building at Pegram Park. The normal precinct location has changed for the special election due to construction at Pegram City Hall. You can see voting times for each day here.

As of Sept. 20, 521 Cheatham County residents have voted early – including 191 for democrats and 330 for republicans.

On Election Day, Oct. 7, Kingston Springs residents will vote in the primary at Harpeth High School, while Pegram residents will continue to vote at Pegram Park.

Green announced his retirement in July, leaving open a seat that covers Cheatham County and 13 other counties across Middle and West Tennessee.
