A 1951 home on Maple Street in downtown Kingston Springs drew a local bidding war Saturday, with the winning bid reaching $91,000 after opening at $28,000.
The home at 276 Maple St. was auctioned as-is Oct. 3 by Charles Woodard & Associates Real Estate & Auction. Three local bidders competed for the property before the winning bid was placed by a young local business owner.
The more than 1,300-square-foot home sits on approximately one acre in downtown Kingston Springs. The property was built in 1951 and has been associated with Mary Lou Mangrum. According to local property tax records, the house changed ownership one time in 2021 but was never sold.
The $91,000 winning bid was $63,000 above the auction's opening bid.
The home appeared to need substantial work, but its location, lot size and potential may have contributed to the interest from local buyers.
The auction was conducted as an as-is sale, meaning the property was offered in its existing condition.
