Former Pegram Mayor and current state representative candidate John Louallen is once again inviting South Cheatham County residents to deck the halls — and their homes — for the second annual South Cheatham Christmas Décor Contest, now underway through Dec. 12.

The contest, sponsored by Louallen and Benchmark Realty, celebrates the community’s most festive outdoor holiday displays. Winners will be announced during Pegram’s Christmas in the Park celebration on Friday, Dec. 13. First place will receive $300, second place $200 and third place $100.

“Christmas evokes so many wonderful memories for me, both as a child and a parent. It’s my favorite time of year,” Louallen said. “I started this community decorating competition in honor of my wife, who adores all things Christmas. She often says, 'I love all Christmas lights, no matter how beautiful or ugly; they all make me happy.' She always wanted to thank neighbors for their decorations, as it fills her with such joy.”

“Hosting this competition allows us to connect with our community and express our gratitude for their festive spirit,” he continued. “It’s a fantastic way to kick off the Christmas season as we celebrate the greatest gift, Jesus Christ.”

Last year’s winners were David Hadden, Shannon and Sandy Buck and Mike Shope.

Homeowners in Kingston Springs and Pegram are eligible to enter. The deadline to apply is Dec. 12, and entries can be submitted online at forms.gle/7RyTaCXdeyoVSeBc7.
