The Kingston Springs Volunteer Fire Department (KSVFD) held its annual awards banquet on the evening of Jan. 18 to recognize outstanding service and achievements by its members.

Daniel Patrick Shaffer was named Firefighter of the Year, while Katie Harness received Rookie of the Year honors. Department officials said Shaffer, an attorney by profession, responded to the most calls of any KSVFD firefighter last year.

Harness was recognized for her positive attitude, dedication to the department and skills as a new firefighter.

The department also announced promotions for two members. Nathan Vetitoe was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, and Caitlin Dumond was promoted to the rank of engineer.

Vetitoe is a full-time firefighter and paramedic for the City of Franklin and has served as a volunteer with KSVFD for 15 years. Dumond is a full-time firefighter and advanced EMT for Nashville Fire and has volunteered with KSVFD for four years.

Additional service and achievement awards were presented to John Ershek for 15 years of service, Jose Hernandez for most trainings, and Alan Hudson for the Chief’s Choice Award.

The banquet was hosted at SKYKING Pizza.
