The Pegram Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved the town's $1.19 million fiscal year 2026-27 budget, keeping the property tax rate unchanged while adopting a modest increase to sewer rates that took effect July 1.
The budget maintains Pegram's property tax rate at 32 cents per $100 of assessed value.
In addition to the budget, aldermen approved the town's annual sewer rate adjustment, increasing rates by 4.6%, or 5 cents per 1,000 gallons. Town officials noted the increase is required under a policy adopted in 2008 and is part of the utility's regular rate structure. It is separate from the town's recently approved wastewater treatment plant improvement project, which will be financed through a state revolving fund loan.
Among the larger expenditures included in the operating budget is $550,000 for the Pegram Fire Department. The budget also includes $100,000 for replacement emergency radio equipment as departments across Middle Tennessee transition to a new regional radio system.
Road infrastructure remains a priority, with $200,000 budgeted for road and street improvements.
Public safety funding also includes $175,000 for the town's contract with the Cheatham County Sheriff's Office for patrol services, along with $15,000 for license plate reader cameras.
The budget also sets aside $50,000 for improvements to Pegram's parks.
