The Town of Pegram announced that its 49th annual 4th of July celebration will have a theme of “Stars, Stripes and Pegram Southern Nights.”
The day’s jam-packed schedule was not yet finalized at time of publication, but the annual Independence Day celebration is guaranteed to have its crowd favorites as well as some new additions.
The event will begin as it always has in the past five decades with the town’s 4th of July Parade. Per usual, there is no requirement to preregister to participate in the parade. Community groups, businesses and individuals can show up to Pegram Park and begin lining up at 8 a.m. the morning of July 4.
Cathy Beck and her husband, Skip, have been named the grand marshals of this year’s parade.
Cathy has served as the Director of Schools for the Cheatham County School District for the past eight years, leaving a lasting legacy in education throughout the community. She will retire on June 30 after more than 30 years of dedicated service in the field.
“Since relocating from Colorado to Kingston Springs in 2017, Dr. Beck and Skip have been active and generous members of our community,” the Town of Pegram said. “Their volunteer efforts on various boards and local organizations have made a meaningful difference. Married for many years, they share six children, three dogs, and a cat – a testament to their strong family values and love of community.”
“Their dedication to education, service, and the Pegram community makes them the perfect choice to lead this year’s Independence Day festivities. Please join us in celebrating Dr. Cathy and Skip Beck as they help kick off the 49th Annual Pegram July 4th Celebration,” the town said.
The town has promised a day full of games and rides, live music, food trucks and vendors, bingo, beauty pageants and the firework finale. Be sure to fuel up for a day of fun ahead of the parade at Pegram's United Methodist Church annual Fourth of July pancake breakfast. Plates range from $5 to $8. Following the parade, you’ll also be able to refuel at the Pegram Community Club’s annual July 4th BBQ at the train depot. Adult plates will cost $15 and kids plates will cost $7.
New events from the town this year will include a Harpeth High School alumni softball/baseball game at 4 p.m. Interested in playing or organizing a team? Contact Wendy Cox at pegramevents@gmail.com for more information. The town will also be reviving a crowd favorite: the Miss Pegram Ageless Elegance Pageant. All women aged 55 and up are invited to participate in this charming and spirited celebration of beauty, grace and community.
The normal pageants for ages 0 to 12-years-old will take place at the Pavillion Stage from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Live music for the evening will kick off at the main stage at 4 p.m. with the band Muscle Shoals Musicians. And, of course, the evening will end with Pegram’s beloved fireworks display.
