The Town of Kingston Springs is taking a new approach to Food Truck Monday this year, pausing the event for the year’s hottest months and bringing it back during the cooler evenings in the fall.

“Last year we noticed that attendance was down in July and August because it was still very hot in the late afternoon, early evenings,” City Manager John Lawless said. “This year we're running Food Truck Mondays during May and June, skipping July and August because of the heat, and will then be extending the season, bringing food trucks back in September through the end of October.”

The Gazette previously reported that Food Truck Monday – which began on May 19 this year – would again run through the month of August, which is incorrect.

Lawless first announced that the town was hoping to extend the food truck event into the cooler months at the end of last year’s season.

Food Truck Monday first began in the summer of 2023, running every other Monday evening from May through August. In 2024, the event didn’t draw as big of crowds due to the weather.

“Since this is a community event, our goal is to have as much community participation as possible so we’d like to see a lot full of people each time,” Lawless told the Gazette at the end of the 2024 season.

The town is hoping by pausing the event for July and August, and bringing it back for September and October, the cooler evenings will draw out more community members.

Food Truck Monday will be held on June 16 and 30 before it takes a two-month hiatus and returns on Monday, Sept. 1.
