School is officially back in session! The South Cheatham cluster of schools welcomed teachers and students back onto campus for the 2025-2026 school year on Thursday, Aug. 7. As always, they greeted the students with style, rolling out the red carpet as HHS athletes cheered on the younger generations. A very special good luck is in order for KSES’s new principal, Ben Howell, and HMS’s new principal, Susie Kephart. We also want to send a shout out to the district’s new lead, Stacy Brinkley! Thursday wasn’t just the first day of school for two-legged humans – HHS welcomed its first four-legged employee, Ollie. The 5-year-old golden retriever is currently training through Dogspeak Therapy Dog Program to become the school’s certified therapy dog. Ollie lives with HHS Assistant Principal Shannon Schliwa and will be available several days a week for students who wish to work with him in the counseling office. The start of the school year also marks the beginning of fall sports in South Cheatham. Football, girls soccer and volleyball are in full swing at HHS and HMS. Be sure to check out the teams’ full schedules here and don’t miss a home game this season! KSES’s own third-grader, Sydney Jones, is heading to Wales in September to represent Team USA for point sparring, but she can’t do it without your help! The Jones family still needs to raise $3,000 to make it to the competition. Can you help? Read more about Sydney’s story as the top point sparring champion in the nation here. The Town of Kingston Springs still has 22 tickets remaining for its 8th annual Dinner on Main event, to take place Sunday, Sept. 7.
