What your kids can do locally this summer

Summer is heating up in South Cheatham, and so is the lineup of local camps offering fun, learning, and adventure for kids of all ages. From faith-based programs to music workshops and nature-focused experiences, there's a camp for every interest right here in our community.


Bethany Hills Camp

Bethany Hills Camp in Kingston Springs is offering three different faith-based summer camps this year through the Disciples of Christ Tennessee Region for 3rd-12th graders beginning June 1. High schoolers can attend the camp June 1-7 for $400. Eighth graders can attend the camp June 8-14 for $345. Students in the 3rd-5th grade can attend June 11-14 for $215, and students in 6th-8th grade can attend July 23-27 for $275. More information and the registration links can be found here.


Cheatham County Book/STEAM Bus

The Cheatham County Book/STEAM bus is hitting the road again this summer. It will be parked at Harpeth High School on June 5 for Ag Week from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be parked at Harpeth Middle School for free book and lunch on June 10 from 9 a.m. to noon, and it will be parked at Kingston Springs Elementary School for free books and lunch on June 17 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The full schedule can be found here.

Little Explorers Summer Camp

Little Explorers will be hosting craft workshops at The Land on Highway 70 all summer, with their next event on June 7. The Tote Bag Stamping event invites ages 3 to 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. and ages 6 to 12 from noon to 1 p.m. Decorate tote bags using real fruits, leaves and more! It costs $40 per child, with each additional child receiving a $10 discount. Register here.


Camp Sparrow Song

Music and nature camp Sparrow Song is returning to West Glow Farm in Kingston Springs June 9-13 and 16-20 for K-5th grade students from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Each week is $275 per camper. More information and registration available here.


Library Summer Reading Program

The South Cheatham County Library will conduct its annual Summer Reading Program June 12 through July 17 featuring a “Color Our World” theme. The sessions are held on Thursdays at the library starting at 10:30 a.m. More information and the schedule can be found here.


Shacklett Church of Christ VBS

Shacklett Church of Christ at 1344 Highway 70 is presenting "Untangled: Wild About God's Divine Plan" for its Vacation Bible School on June 12 and 13. Each evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m., classes will be offered for children 6-months-old to 18-year-old. Crafts, games, movies and food will be provided. Harvest Fields Baptist Church VBS

Harvest Fields Baptist Church at 2190 Sams Creek Road is Presenting "Magnified: Discovering the Bigness of God in the Smallest of Things" for its Vacation Bible School June 24-27. Each evening from 5:30 to 8 p.m., classes will be offered for K-6th grade students.


Town of Kingston Springs Parks and Recreation Camp

The Town of Kingston Springs Parks and Recreation Department will offer its annual Summer Camp for ages six through 12 in July. Held at Burns Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, session one will take place July 14-18 for ages 6-8 and will cost $275 per child. Session two will take place July 21-25 for ages 9-12 and will cost $325 per child. Register here.
